Duty of Care Legislation with Anjali Sharma

Join us for an online conversation on Duty of Care legislation with our special guest, climate and youth campaigner Anjali Sharma.

Anjali has been advocating for the Duty of Care Bill, which would require the Australian Government to take into consideration a duty to young Australians to take reasonable care to protect them from climate change harm.

In our community listening, people of Moore of all ages have been telling us that climate change and the environment is a priority issue for them.

We hope you can join Anjali to learn more about the Duty of Care legislation and how you can advocate for change!

Anjali Sharma Bio

Anjali Sharma (she/her) is 20 years old. At 16, she became the lead litigant of Sharma v Environment Minister, a class action legal case which argued that the Environment Minister owes all young people a duty of care to protect them from the impacts of climate change. In 2021, she was successful, but following an appeal from the Minister, this ruling was overturned. However, Anjali continued the campaign, now calling to have this duty legislated through Federal Parliament.
