Voices of Moore releases community listening results and launches candidate search

The Candidate Search Party and Community Listening Report launch were held at Hillarys Yacht Club on Saturday 17 August 2024.

While outside was wet and wild, the atmosphere inside was electric, filled with excitement at reaching this milestone.

Following welcomes, the event began with the results of the Community Listening Report, which were based on 230 responses to our online community survey and 78 participants in 21 Kitchen Table Conversations. The report provides insight into what residents love about Moore, what they are concerned about, and what political representation they would like for our community. We encourage you to have a look at the Community Listening Report and results summary video.

A live cross to Clare Doube in Canberra offered insight into getting an Independent candidate elected to parliament. Clare is a human rights consultant, mediator, and cofounder of proACT, which was behind David Pocock's election to the Senate. Sharing proACT's experience of a community searching for someone to represent them and getting them elected was inspiring and relatable.

Groups discussed what they thought to be the qualities of the representative they would like to see. To find this candidate, we must all reach into our networks and contacts. The opportunity to mingle with refreshments and nibbles was welcomed as people excitedly anticipated the future.
