We were lucky to have climate and youth campaigner Anjali Sharma join us for a webinar on Duty of Care Legislation on 30 July 2024.
Anjali has been advocating for the Duty of Care Bill, which would require the Australian Government to take into consideration a duty to young Australians to take reasonable care to protect them from climate change harm.
Anjali gave webinar attendees a briefing about the Duty of Care process that began when she was just 16, when she became the lead litigant of Sharma v Environment Minister, a class action legal case which argued that the Environment Minister owes all young people a duty of care to protect them from the impacts of climate change, followed by her work with Senator David Pocock on a Bill to introduce Duty of Care legislation.
Anjali's inspiring presentation also covered advice on how to advocate for change, and how to engage young people in politics.
Voices of Moore thanks Anjali for sharing her fascinating experiences with our audience.
